Licensed practical nurse Briona McBride of The Mary Clark Thompson Family Practice in Canandaigua recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses from UR Medicine Thompson Health.

A resident of Palmyra, McBride was at work when a team of health system executives and nursing administrators surprised her with the award. Also on hand for the presentation was patient Tamra Clark of Canandaigua, who nominated McBride.

Clark said McBride has been “my advocate from day one,” going above and beyond in trying to make sure medications for an autoimmune disease are covered by insurance. “I am beyond appreciative of the time she has taken to help me,” Clark said, noting she can’t imagine going through the process with a different nurse.
