Highland opens short-stay post-operative unit

Highland Hospital has opened a new 26-bed Short-Stay Post-Operative Unit on the fourth floor of its Southeast Tower, providing a dedicated space for patients recovering from surgery who are expected to return home within 24 hours.

The unit features state-of-the-art technology, modern patient care spaces, and a flexible gym space where short-stay orthopedic and joint-replacement patients can begin recovery after surgery.

“Opening this new unit is an important investment in our patients and in the future of surgical care at Highland,” said Kathy Parrinello, president and CEO of Highland Hospital. “We’ve created a space that integrates exceptional clinical care with modern technology to support patients throughout their recovery.”

The new unit also expands Highland’s capacity to care for patients requiring post-operative monitoring before discharge.

“This gives us greater flexibility to care for patients while making the most of our hospital resources,” said Maura Snyder, chief operating officer of Highland Hospital.
