Recipients of the quarterly award are chosen by the health system’s service excellence team, which reviews compliments from patients, families, and coworkers.
Chosen for the honor were:
• Shannon Broderick of Canandaigua, a registered nurse in Thompson Hospital’s ambulatory procedures center. A surgical patient whose comments resulted in Broderick’s award said, “She knew what she was doing, expressed confidence and communicated everything to me.”
• Jamie Detota of Canandaigua, a social worker in the health system’s M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center. Her award followed kudos from a coworker, who noted she finds meaningful ways to bring joy to her residents, such as accompanying them to the hospital gift shop or coffee shop or playing piano for them. “Despite the demands of her caseload, Jamie makes the time to ensure each resident feels valued, respected, and uplifted,” the coworker said.
• Re’Shel Freeman of Rochester, a registered nurse on floor 2 West at the hospital. Her award was the result of comments from someone whose mother was a patient and who said, “Re’Shel combines clinical expertise, compassion and kindness. She always made sure my mom felt heard and respected, making a tough situation just a little bit more bearable.”
• Trevor Harris of Marcellus in Onondaga County, a patient care technician on hospital floor 3 West. His award was based on kudos from a coworker who appreciates his dedication to patient care, his willingness to step in whenever needed and the sharing of his expertise. “Whether it is a hard or easy task, you can always be counted on to do what’s right!” the coworker said.
• Kathy Trainor of Canandaigua, a registered nurse on floor 3 West. A patient’s comments are what led to her award, with the patient saying, “Kathy is a caring, excellent nurse and the extra time spent educating us on what we should do post-discharge went above and beyond.”
• Chelsey Williams of Rexville in Steuben County, a radiology technologist. Her award followed kudos from a patient who said, “Chelsey was very kind and gentle with my achy bones. She is both professional and sweet! Her compassion made a difference in my day.”
Each recipient of the Service Excellence Award receives points to be used on Thompson’s online shopping site and is featured in CEO presentations as well as on Thompson’s intranet site and in its internal newsletter.
