Career Highlights: “Seasoned executive leader with over 20 years driving operational excellence, revenue growth and brand visibility across senior living, hospitality and destination marketing organizations.”
Skills that make you an effective leader? “Adaptability is also key. Responding quickly and effectively to change and uncertainty along with problem-solving; being able to identify issues and finding practical, creative solutions.”
How do you describe your managerial philosophy or approach? “I follow a collaborative and supportive approach, encouraging teamwork and shared decision-making while still providing clear direction. I aim to empower associates by delegating responsibility, recognizing strengths and providing opportunities for growth through coaching and feedback. When challenges arise, I prioritize problem-solving over blame and view setbacks as learning opportunities.”
How do you personally demonstrate leadership and inspire your staff? “I build inspiration through clear communication and shared vision, helping associates understand how their work contributes to larger goals. I actively listen to their ideas and concerns, making them feel valued and involved in decision-making.”
How do you see the healthcare industry changing in the next few years, and how will you prepare the organization for those changes? “There is a shift in the way seniors want to spend their time, younger residents are looking at senior living sooner, wanting less home ownership responsibly. Residents are looking for flexible functional living spaces where they can age in place. Living without excess and enjoy day to day comforts.”
What are your top three priorities for your organization this year? “Investing into the community with increased programming, staying current with technology that benefits our residents along with giving residents time back with their families by eliminating stress allowing them time to connect. A focus on offering a hospitality level of service, meeting residents’ expectations, hiring and training staff so they understand the importance of the role that they play in a resident and their families experience.”
How can the healthcare industry in the region be improved? “Encourage collaboration between healthcare systems, home health agencies, and senior living communities to coordinate wellness, engagement, and outreach.”
Tell us one thing about you that people generally don’t know? “One thing people generally don’t know about me is that I am intentionally reflective and observant, especially in senior living environments. I spend time quietly watching how residents interact with staff, with one another and with their surroundings. Those moments often reveal more than reports or meetings ever could. This quieter practice keeps my decisions grounded in empathy and has assisted me in become a more effective executive director. It allows me to identify small gaps in service, recognize staff who go above and beyond, and make thoughtful improvements that enhance residents’ quality of life.”
