The Eye Care Center, which delivers services throughout the Finger Lakes region since 1973, recently announced the promotion of two professionals.
• Michelle Wheeler was promoted to the position of accounting manager and has been managing finances for The Eye Care Center for several months. Her efforts include working with health insurance, patient balances and supervision of employees, including the accounting team and the front desk staff at the Canandaigua, Newark and Geneva offices. In the past, she was assistant accounting manager and office supervisor. Prior to that, Wheeler was the office manager and a medical coder for Wayne Regional Eye Center. She holds a license as a certified professional coder (CPC). In addition to accounting expertise, Wheeler has a strong background in medical coding, medical terminology, and current procedural terminology or CPT industry knowledge. She graduated from Lockport High School and has completed concentrations at Bryant & Stratton College. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, outdoor activities and traveling.
• Taylor Cerniglia was promoted to optical manager. Her background includes several positions at The Eye Care Center, including working as an optical apprentice. Cerniglia is currently a NYS licensed optician and contact lens practitioner and holds the following certifications: American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiner. She graduated from Marcus Whitman High School and holds an associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences from Finger Lakes Community College. When not working, Cerniglia enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, exploring the outdoors.
“These team members have been promoted into positions that became available after several long-term staff members retired,” said Practice Administrator Terry Parsons. “Their combined knowledge and commitment to ensuring excellent eye care services for our patients will play a vital part in the continuing growth of The Eye Care Center.”
